A federal grand jury in the Southern District of Ohio indicted Rippy in September.
According to the indictment, Rippy made the threat to the school from California during the Nov. 24 game, stating, “your school is going to get shot the f— up and I’m seriously going to hurt the students and all the players from the football team.”
He appeared in U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California Tuesday where he was released on $50,000 bail, court records show.
A Dayton Daily News article recapping the game said that while Michigan came to the game with high hopes, OSU defeated the Wolverines 62-39.
