“With this change, the project has been delayed to allow for updated architectural plans and possible historic tax credits.”

If all goes well, construction would begin in June, with an opening perhaps as early as October, Smith said.
“We're so excited about the new location for St. Anne the Tart and the possibilities that this new space provides beyond the day-to-day offerings as a bakery, coffeehouse and lunch spot,” she said.

A native of Columbus, Smith operated a bakery in Lexington, Ky. prior to moving to Dayton nearly four years ago. When she announced her initial plans for opening the bakery, Smith said she was drawn to the historic district neighborhood east of downtown Dayton.

“I love that area. I think St. Anne’s Hill is magical, and I want to be on the ground floor of all the good things that are happening there,” she said in early 2017.
