Special delivery! Budweiser Clydesdales make their stops on Brown St. in Dayton

The Budweiser Clydesdales have made their special deliveries in Dayton. Here’s a glimpse of what it looked like.

This afternoon's visit by the Budweiser Clydesdales hitch team took place despite this morning's wet weather. A spokesman for Heidelberg Distributing had said the visit was weather-dependent, but the rain ceased at about the same time as the Clydesdales arrived at 1 p.m.

The Moraine-based Heidelberg distributes Budweiser and other Anheuser-Busch InBev products throughout the Dayton area.

The Budweiser Clydesdales made “special deliveries” to four bars and restaurants and one store on the Brown Street strip adjacent to the University of Dayton this afternoon.

In addition to The Pine Club — where the Anheuser-Busch promotional team re-enacted a photo taken 70 years ago in the same spot — the Clydesdales team visited Buffalo Wild Wings, Milano's Pizza & Subs, Timothy's and a Sunoco convenience store and gas station, all located in a two-block stretch in the 1800-1900 blocks of Brown Street.

Vail Miller Jr., CEO of Heidelberg Distributing Co., rode the hitch and delivered a case of Budweiser to each account.

The horse team staged in a UD-owned parking lot near the Marriott University of Dayton hotel off of South Patterson Boulevard.

The Budweiser Clydesdales’ “Hitch Schedule” called for the horse team to come to Cincinnati Tuesday in conjunction with the Thursday opening day of the Cincinnati Reds, although that game has been pushed back a day because of rain in the forecast. The horse team will be in southwest Ohio through April 3.

The Budweiser Clydesdales made their first appearance on April 7, 1933. They were a gift from August A. Busch, Jr. and Adolphus Busch to their father in celebration of the repeal of Prohibition.
