280 Springfield guard members to return home after mission in Asia

About 280 members of the 371st Sustainment Brigade, headquartered in Springfield, will return home after a roughly yearlong deployment in Southwest Asia.

Local residents are invited to attend a welcome home ceremony for the unit, scheduled for 3 p.m. Saturday at First Christian Church, 3638 Middle Urbana Road in Springfield.

The brigade handled numerous responsibilities, including oversight of contracts to provide life support services to U.S. personnel serving overseas and management of soldiers in subordinate units working in more than 10 different countries, according to information from the Ohio National Guard.
