The Air Force Marathon will raise prices $5 for all races beginning Feb. 2, weeks earlier than it has in the past.
The series of race has a 26.2-mile marathon, a 13.1-mile half marathon, and a 10K race on Sept. 19 meandering through Wright-Patterson and downtown Fairborn. A 5K race is set for Sept. 18 at the campus at Wright State University.
Historically, the marathon has raised prices in April, but chose to move up the date to encourage more people to register earlier, said Richard Perron, marathon marketing coordinator.
“We wanted to try and encourage people sooner and that gets us to sell out sooner,” he said. “Once we are sold out, we can focus on other things.”
About half of the 15,000 slots for runners were filled, he said.
“We’re about on pace with last year,” he said.
Another price increase is scheduled April 2.
Current price ranges from $30 for the 5K to $90 for the marathon.
