Another Caesar Creek building back in operation

As part of an ongoing $2.5 million rebuilding effort, the second portion of Caesar Creek Markets will open up for business today.

Just more than three months since a fire damaged most of the Wilmington facility, the second repaired section is back in business. Building 1 was returned to operation on June 9. Today, the first section of the Main Aisle will re-open.

This section was home to Sound Investments, R&J Army Navy Store. TRC Grafx and others before the March 16 fire at the facility located off Ohio 73, just west of Interstate 71.

The cost to rebuild the Main Aisle first section was approximately $200,000, said Greg Dove, the president of Levin Service Company, the parent company of Caesar Creek Markets.

“The entire building has been stripped of wood and fixtures,” said Dove. “All of the ceilings, ductwork and metal walls have been scrubbed throughout and all the vendors’ booths have been reconstructed. We have new stores and new store fronts and new pegboard walls for the vendors’ displays.

“It’s very encouraging to see things coming back, and there’s a lot of people working hard to make that happen.”

Dove said he expects to have Building 3 opened in two weeks, then in four weeks he will hopefully have Building 2 back in operation.

“Building 2 required a lot more work,” Dove said. “There were some structural issues to be addressed. Building 3 has a lot fewer vendor booths in there and we required a lot less reconstruction in that space.”
