Antique, classic cars shown off at Dayton Concours d’Elegance

The 12th annual Dayton Concours d’Elegance took place Sunday at Carillon Historical Park to show a collection of 200 antique and classic cars and motorcycles.

Chairman for the Dayton Concours d’Elegance Skip Peterson said this event was a fundraiser for Dayton history.

“No place better to have historic cars than inside the Carillon Park,” he said.

The cars ranged from 1907 to 2018. The oldest car was a 1907 Atfield Buggy About, which was made in Miamisburg. There is only three left in the United States, with two in Ohio; One in the collection of Dayton history and the other in the Miamisburg Historic Society. The newest car was a 2018 Tesla Model 3.

Collections came from all over the world, and several cars could approach $1 million in value.

The best in show car came from Maryland and was a 1931 Buick Runabout, which is one in seven left in the United States.

The Car Selection Committee draws from seven states from the mid-west to be in this show, which include Ohio, Kentucky, Indiana, Missouri, and Wisconsin.
