The new Basil’s on Market restaurant and pub, located at downtown Dayton’s RiverScape waterfront, is officially open, according to their Facebook page.
Originally projected to open on July 25, the new restaurant now has its sights set on a “full-swing” opening on Aug. 1, Basil’s on Market founder Todd Uhlir said this morning. There may be a “soft opening” the weekend before the Monday official opening, Uhlir said.
The downtown Dayton Basil’s is on the ground floor of 312 N. Patterson Blvd. at East Monument Avenue, overlooking the Great Miami River. It’s part of the Water Street mixed-use development along the river. The 4,800-square-foot restaurant will seat 150 to 160 inside, and another 120 or so on a 2,200-square-foot patio overlooking the river and its fountains. It will open with 60 to 65 employees.
Basil’s on Market operates a restaurant-pub in Troy that opened in 2014. Uhlir served as executive chef at the Troy Country Club for nine years prior to launching the Troy restaurant, and has said he intends to expand the Basil’s on Market concept to more locations in Ohio and potentially beyond.
