Bead event helps Ugandan women escape poverty

BeadforLife (BFL) works to provide opportunities to women who are living on less than $1 a day to help them overcome poverty. BFL is based in North America and Uganda and partners with industrious women who make vivid beaded jewelry out of recycled paper.

Kettering College faculty and staff will be selling necklaces, bracelets, earrings and shea butter soap and lip balm – all Ugandan-made – from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. on Wednesday and Thursday and from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. on Friday on the ground floor of the Boonshoft Center for Medical Sciences, 3737 Southern Blvd. The last five BeadforLife events at the school have raised $23,000 for the organization.
