Beavercreek High School wins first place at national quiz bowl

A local high school took home the nation’s top spot at a quiz bowl tournament over the weekend.

Beavercreek High School finished with a record of 15-1 at the 2019 NAQT High School National Championship Tournament (HSNCT). Last year the school tied for fifth place.

The quiz bowl is an academic tournament that tests students’ knowledge on various subjects.

Other Dayton-area schools also sent some of the nation’s best students to the competition based on individual stats including: John John Groger, an 11th grader from Miami Valley High School who placed fifth overall and Samantha Street, a 10th grader from Northmont High School who was the third highest scoring sophomore in the country.

336 high school teams from across North American competed in Atlanta at the completion.
