Blue Circle Run, Annual Wellness and Diabetes Expo raises awareness, offers assistance during Diabetes Awareness Month

November is Diabetes Awareness Month. To raise awareness and share information, Diabetes Dayton, a local non-profit that offers assistance and education about diabetes, is hosting two events today.

The second annual Blue Circle Run/Walk begins at 9 a.m. with a 10k run followed by a 5k that starts at 9:15 a.m. The run begins at the Marriott at the University of Dayton. South Patterson Road is closed for the duration.

News Center 7’s Gabrielle Enright was the Master of Ceremonies for the run.

Following the run, Diabetes Dayton is hosting their Annual Wellness and Diabetes Expo. The theme this year is “Achieving Your Wellness Goals.”

The doors to the expo open at 9:45 a.m.

Over 30 vendors will be at the event,. as well as motivational speakers, behavioral health specialists and celebrity Chef Doreen Colondres, who will share healthy cooking tips with two recipes to sample.

The expo also offers free health screenings such as A1Cs, kidney function, blood pressure, vision, foot and pre-diabetes tests. Flu shots will also be available.

Presentation sessions will be at 10:10 a.m., 11 a.m. and 12 p.m. with closing remarks and sample recipe tasting at 12:45 p.m.
