Missing man’s body may have been in wooded area for weeks, Preble County deputies say

The body of a missing Indiana man found Saturday afternoon may have been in a wooded area for weeks, investigators say.

A farmer found the body in a wooded area near his property on Sommerville West Elkton Road in Sommers Twp., the Preble County Sheriff’s Office said.

The body has been identified as that of Charles Rayburn.

Rayburn was reported missing Dec. 4 from Connersville, Indiana.

The sheriff’s office said the initial autopsy showed no signs of foul play.

Deputies also said there was evidence of drug use recovered near Rayburn’s body.

Deputies are waiting for toxicology results as a part of the final autopsy report.
