Fishing derby May 20

On May 20 from 8:30-11:30 a.m. there will be a fishing derby in Phillips Park, 2132 Dayton Xenia Road. Registration will start at 8 a.m. Families will enjoy free entertainment and prizes will be awarded at 11 a.m. Participants should bring their own fishing pole.

Glen Helen Earth Day 5k/10k Walk/Run April 23

On April 23, beginning at 10 a.m., Glen Helen, 1075 SR 343, Yellow Springs will host its Earth Day 5k/10k Walk/Run.

Celebrate Earth Day by running or walking the area’s only all-trail charity run at Glen Helen. Register online at speedy-feet.com.

Registration fees are $25 for the 5K and $30 for the 10K. Race day registration is $35.

SUGARCREEK TOWNSHIP

Prescription drug drop-off available

Residents can turn in unused or expired medications for safe disposal in the lobby of the Sugarcreek Township Public Safety Building, 4398 Clyo Road. Medications in pill and capsule form will be accepted. Pills should be removed from packaging material. Liquids and needles will not be accepted. For more information, call 937-848-3479.

Shelter Break-Out Day 5K April 22

On April 22 from 9-11 a.m. Greene County Animal Control will hold its Shelter Break-Out Day 5K Walk/Run.

Bring your favorite four-footed family member to this free celebration of our canine companions.

The walk begins and ends at Greene County Parks and Trails Oldtown Reserve, 1360 Old Springfield Pike, Xenia.

Food will be available for purchase from the 4-H Dog Committee. Donations to Greene County Animal Control will be graciously accepted.

Sugar Maple Festival April 21-23

Join the Bellbrook-Sugarcreek community and celebrate the 39th annual Sugar Maple Festival in downtown Bellbrook from April 21-23. The theme of this year’s festival is “Superheroes,” kicking off the community’s spring and summer seasons. This year’s festival will include entertainment, activities for kids, shopping, great food, and more.

The Sugar Maple Festival provides many family friendly activities, around 75 craft vendors, many food vendors, a community parade, a 5k race, and a beer garden, which will offer craft beer from local breweries.
