Bruce Hoskins, 53, died from his injuries at the scene.

“It don’t take much when you get a 1,000-pound bull coming at you, they lower their heads and come at you and the horns just got him in the wrong spot,” Darke County Sheriff Toby Spencer said.

Hoskins’ brother and several neighbors rendered aid as crews arrived.

Spencer said believes Hoskins was injured after the bull hit a main artery, even though the horns were shortened.

“It’s an unfortunate accident and I’m sorry for the family ... our thoughts and prayers go out to all of them.”
