A husband, wife and one of their pets escaped a Carlisle house fire on Gross Street that caused major damage to their home and partially melted a pickup truck in the driveway.
Lt. Roger Hurley, Carlisle Fire Department, said the fire Friday night in the 400 block of Gross began at the back of the structure.
A fire investigator has been called, he said, not offering a guess at a probable cause.
A family dog was able to escape the flames with the couple. A pet cat is missing, Hurley said.
No injuries were reported from the fire to which crews were dispatched just before 8 p.m.
Red Cross workers have been called to assist the couple.
Hurley did not estimate the dollar loss to the structure or its contents.
