Chase through Warren Co. ends in crash

A police chase that began in Middletown and moved into Franklin ended in a crash back in Middletown.

Middletown police said they spotted Terry Smith at Breiel Boulevard and North Verity Parkway. They said Smith already had outstanding warrants for fleeing police. They tried to make a traffic stop, and said that Smith took off.

The chase went into the city of Franklin where officers said Smith tried to ram their cruisers.

Police said Smith returned to Middletown, where he eluded police for about 15 minutes.

Police said Smith's truck was heading towards Dixie Highway on Coles Road when it struck several vehicles.

Harold Adkins said his white Cheverolet Malibu received front and rear-end damage when the truck hit it in the intersection of Coles and Dixie.

Officers said that Smith later crashed into a telephone pole at Coles Road and Dixie Highway.

Police said Smith was charged with 23 counts, including running four red lights, two stop signs, fleeing the scene of an accident, driving the wrong way on a one-way street, driving under suspension, and speeding.

Franklin police charged Smith with felonious assault.   More charges could be filed.
