“We are happy to offer library patrons free access to the wonderful collections at the Dayton Art Institute,” said Library Executive Director Tim Kambitsch. “It’s a natural fit. The Library is a place for discovery and inspiration, and certainly the Art Institute is as well.”
Chuck Duritsch, a Dayton Metro Library spokesman, said the two institutions will evaluate the success of this venture to determine how long it will be available to patrons.

Each branch of the Dayton Metro Library system will have five family memberships available for checkout, stored in CD cases. When the CD case is presented at the DAI, admission tickets will be issued. If all passes are checked out of the Library, patrons may place a reserve on the next available, according to a Dayton Art Institute press release. Memberships are checked out for three weeks, and are not renewable. Visitors can return to the DAI as often as they like during the three-week loan period.
Guests visiting the DAI with a rental membership are also eligible for a 25% discount on an official DAI membership.
