No citations for driver after child hit on bike

Child OK after strike in front of New Carlisle school

The child that was struck is a 6-year-old boy. He suffered a bump on his head and was treated by a medic at the scene.

The driver who struck him had slowed down to let two bicyclists cross and apparently the boy tried to cross as well, according to OSP.

The boy’s mother arrived at the scene and took her son home.

No citation was issued because it happened on private property.

UPDATE @ 8:20 a.m.

The young male appears to be OK after the incident. Troopers from the Ohio State Highway Patrol Springfield Post responded to the scene.

We’re working to find out what happened.


Emergency crews are responding to the report of a child being struck while riding a bike in front of New Carlisle Elementary.

The incident was reported around 7:50 a.m. as happening in front of the school, 1203 Kennison Ave.

We have a photographer en route and will provide updates as more information becomes available.
