City buying land as part of re-use efforts

The city has agreed to buy an abandoned vacant lot as part of an effort to revitalize it.

Miamisburg City Council has agreed to purchase a lot at 730 E. Sycamore St. to begin the process by which an adjacent property owner can buy it and refurbish the parcel.

The property is tax delinquent, according to Chris Fine, Miamisburg development director. The city has spent thousands of dollars to maintain the land over the years and the transaction will help the neighborhood, he said.

The lot will be purchased and resold to a neighbor through the Montgomery County’s land reutilization program, Fine said. Howard Matthews has agreed to buy the parcel on Sycamore, according to the city. NICK BLIZZARD
