Anderson said Riley’s firing is not the result of him doing anything wrong, but rather it was a decision to go in a different direction.
“Mike Riley has the utmost ethics ... He’s a good man. I wanted to take the department in a different direction, and they needed a different voice,” Anderson said.

A city official has confirmed that Mike Riley is no longer the fire chief in Fairborn.
Riley was terminated from the position, and he is no longer the fire chief as of Friday, according to the city’s human resources department.
Dave Reichert has been named the interim fire chief, according to a city official.

The reason for Riley’s termination has not been released.
Messages seeking comment from City Manager Rob Anderson and the city’s communications manager have not been returned.
