The Miami Valley Council Boy Scouts of America Service Center and Scout Shop closed this week and will remain shuttered through March 31 and instead cut back on in-person activities and services in response to the coronavirus pandemic.

The council's staff will be working remotely, Scout Executive Jeffrey Schiavone said in a prepared statement.

“We are working to 'Do Our Best' in these unprecedented times to help you keep the Scouting fire lit for the youth and families of our programs, while keeping all parties safe,” he said.

The following is still in place through April 30: All district and council in-person meetings and all activities through April 30 will be postponed or canceled.

All units are to discontinue in-person meetings and activities, including camping trips.

All council camps are closed.

These cancellations do not apply to summer camp programs and events occurring beyond April 30.

The council’s COVID-19 Task Force has also established a “virtual scouting” subcommittee to help units stay connected during the physical separation. The subcommittee will be suggesting resources and ideas to help units, districts, and council committees communicate.
