Coronavirus: Area schools announce plans for classes amid closures

Area school districts are making contingency plans for classes to be held as Gov. Mike DeWine announced closures of all Ohio schools until April 3.

DAYTON:

March 13 will be the last day of school for all Dayton Public Schools students.

Beginning next week, Monday, March 16th, the district will offer grade level or subject area lessons on YouTube, and all other social media, in all state tested areas. A schedule will be posted and more information will be shared for students soon.

Students will have a break the week of March 23rd through March 27th for their regularly-scheduled Spring Break.

There will be more online lessons on Monday, March 30th through Friday, April 3rd. It is important that students participate in these online lessons to ensure that there is no gap in instruction.

SPRINGBORO:

Springboro schools will be closed from March 16 through April 13. Classes, for all school buildings, are scheduled to resume on Tuesday, April 14.

Based on Gov. Mike DeWine's announcement of an "extended three-week spring break," further communication will be distributed in the coming days to parents/students, regarding online/remote-learning instruction. If online/remote-learning instruction is utilized, it would begin no earlier than Friday, March 20.

All school-related activities, field trips, and extracurricular activities are cancelled beginning Monday, March 16 through Friday, April 3.

VANDALIA-BUTLER SCHOOLS:

The District will be closed beginning Tuesday, March 17 through Friday, April 10. The plan, as of now, is for students to return to school on Monday, April 13. There will be no events, no sports, or student activities during this shutdown period.

More details will be released at a later date.

GREENON LOCAL SCHOOLS:

March 13 will be a normal day with a planned two-hour early release.

The school will be closed for three weeks beginning Monday, March 16.

In addition to closing school, we are cancelling, effective immediately, all events beginning today, Thursday, March 12 through April 3.

FAIRBORN CITY SCHOOLS:

Schools will close at end of day March 16 and students will return April 6.  More information is expected at a later date.

NORTHMONT SCHOOLS:

All K-12 schools will be closed from Monday, March 16 until April 3. Northmont students and staff will report March 13 to work on the remote education plans for all students.

Second through 5th grade students will be bringing home their iPads and chargers March 13 at the end of the school day.

Beginning Wednesday, March 18, students will work from home on lessons provided by their teachers via Google Classroom or other web-based options.

All events and extra-curricular activities are suspended beginning Thursday, March 12 through Friday, April 3.

OAKWOOD SCHOOLS:

Oakwood Schools’ campus will be closed to students and the public starting the end of the school day Friday, March 13 through at least Friday, April 3.

WEST CARROLLTON SCHOOLS:

Schools will be closed from March 12 until April 6.

WAYNE COUNTY SCHOOLS: 

The Wayne County Health Department has announced that all Wayne County public schools are closing from March 20 until April 13, a spokesperson said.
