Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine announced Friday that daycare centers for children can remain open for now.

While they are able to remain open, DeWine said parents need to be thinking about alternative methods in the event the state has to impose further restrictions.

If possible, DeWine is asking parents to remove their children from daycare.

Blake Garrett, director of Wee-Haven Children’s Center, said after the governor’s announcement their phones were ringing off the hook.

"It was in an instant. I mean, as soon as the press conference aired, it was immediate. Our phones were ringing off the hook and we couldn't answer them fast enough,” Garrett said.

While most children will be OK if they get the virus, they are still considered carriers and could spread the virus.
