- One person is under investigation for coronavirus in Ohio. That person is quarantined in an unknown part of the state.
- In the U.S., 126 have tested positive across 13 states. This includes 48 who were aboard the Diamond Princess cruise ship. About 3,200 have been sickened globally, with only 220 of those cases outside of mainland China.
- Public Health - Dayton & Montgomery County has activated its incident management team as the area braces for more travelers to the area due to the First Four ad Winter Guard International World Championships, both held at the University of Dayton arena.
- A biotech firm has developed a possible vaccine to combat coronavirus. The treatment is ready for testing, but testing and potential approval could take up to a year.
- Italy is considering closing all schools and universities until mid-March as officials try to stop the spread of the virus. More than 2,000 have tested positive for coronavirus and 79 others have died.
- The NCAA has created a coronavirus advisory panel ahead of First Four games in Dayton and March Madness. No changes have been made to this year's tournaments.
- The Atlantic 10 is not allowing handshakes between players before or after tournaments in an effort to reduce potential spread of coronavirus.
