UPDATE @ 9:19 p.m.: West Third Street, from Orchard and Grosvenor avenues, will remain shut down at least until 2 a.m., a Dayton police officer said.
Crews from DP&L and RTA remain on scene.
The DP&L outage map shows 53 customers without power at 9:22 p.m. The pole, which was broken off, will have to be replaced, a dispatch supervisor said.
EARLIER: A vehicle crash at West Third Street and Orchard Avenue has knocked down a utility pole, sending live wires into the street.
The cash was reported just after 7:30 p.m. and prompted Dayton fire and police crews to shut down West Third at Orchard because of the damage.
Dayton Power & Light and RTA have been alerted. We're hearing that a Dayton fire house has lost power because of the accident.
There is no word on injuries.
