Fire crews said the fire was due to unattended cooking. The fire spread to the attic, where a homeowner tried to douse the flames. Police had to order the man out of the home for his safety.
No injuries were reported, and the damages were an estimated $5,000 to $10,000.

Crews were called this evening to a report of an attic fire at a home.
The fire was reported around 5:30 p.m. in the 5000 block of Malibu Court.
According to initial reports, the homeowner was trying to douse flames himself before crews arrived.
