An estimated 75 to 100 workers were evacuated from Plant 1 to Plant 2 at the sprawling facility at 55 Robert Wright Drive because of fire in the ventilation system, the chief said.
According to the preliminary investigation, fire extended from one machine in the middle of the production floor to duct work, then to a second machine. Damage was limited to the vent system's metal piping, he said.
There were no injuries.
Crews were dispatched to the auto parts maker by automatic fire alarm pulled by workers using portable extinguishers in an attempt to put out the fire, Chief Fletcher said.
Fletcher said production on the affected line has been shut down until repairs can be made or replacement parts are installed. Elsewhere, production was resuming not long after fire crews had extinguished the fire.

Firefighters on scene tell us the fire was contained and has been extinguished.

Crews are dealing with a fire and heavy smoke at automotive parts maker Green Tokai Co. in Brookville.
Crews were dispatched just after 5 p.m. to the plant, 55 Robert Wright Drive, on a report of a structure fire.
Green Tokai Co. Ltd. designs and manufactures injection molded parts and extrusions for the automotive industry, according to Bloomberg.com.
The company founded in 1987 is headquartered in Brookville and has production and warehouse facilities in Maysville, Ky., as well.
The company operates as a subsidiary of Tokai Kogyo Co.
