Dayton airport director leaving after 4 years

The director of the Dayton International Airport is resigning after four years, and a search for his successor is underway.

Terrence Slaybaugh accepted a position as director of aviation at the General Mitchell International Airport in Milwaukee, the airport announced Tuesday.

“The people I have worked with and met through the city are some of the finest people I have had the opportunity to meet,” Slaybaugh said. “I am looking forward to this next challenge in my career and wish the city of Dayton the very best.”

The city will conduct a nationwide search for Slaybaugh’s successor, considering both internal and external candidates. Regina Holman will serve as interim director until a successor is named, the airport said.

“When you have a talented workforce, others are going to take notice,” city manager Warren Price said. “Terry has done a good job for us here and I believe his achievements were a major factor in his selection by Milwaukee. I wish him well.”

Slaybaugh had applied for Dayton’s city manager’s position late last year before Price was hired for the job.

Slaybaugh was named director of the Dayton airport in March 2011.
