Dayton Foundation awards grant for disaster relief, Oregon District funds

The Dayton Foundation has awarded a special $500,000 grant to support recovery efforts from the Memorial Day tornadoes and the Oregon District shooting.

Of the grant, $400,000 will go to the Greater Dayton Disaster Relief Fund and $100,000 will be given to the Dayton Oregon District Tragedy Fund.

“Rebuilding the hardest hit areas following the Memorial Day tornadoes is estimated to take as long as six to 10 years,” said James Pancoast, chair of the Dayton Foundation. “These dollars are just one step in helping our community heal.”

Donations to the Disaster Relief Fund can be made at any time, but the deadline to contribute to the Oregon District Fund is Oct. 31.
