A joint board overseeing Dayton Mall area redevelopment is moving to change its name to better reflect the Miami Crossing District brand.
The Miami Crossing District includes a 2.2 square mile area around the mall that Miami Twp. and Miamisburg are working to renew after a panel shared by both communities adopted a master plan that included a market assessment calling for more than $200 million in investment in the area.
Officials said the change in the works by the Miami Twp.-Dayton Mall Joint Economic Development District Board would improve marketing and development efforts in the district.
The master plan approved by the JEDD in December 2015 in the business-heavy district outlined the creation of 1,200 multifamily residential units, and more than 350 new jobs from thousands of square feet of new retail and office space within 12 years.
