Carmen Hefner, a Jackson, Ohio, resident who was a client in a Dayton drug rehabilitation facility, was last seen the night of May 16 getting into a white pickup truck near Grosvenor Avenue, her aunt, Lynn Johnston, said Wednesday night.

Hefner had been released from the facility that day and told family members via cellphone she was headed to a shelter to spend the night, Johnston said.

On the night of May 17, according to Johnston, Carmen claimed to have witnessed a shooting in Dayton.

Johnston said she and Hefner's mother, Christine Hefner, went to Dayton police on May 21 to ask that a missing persons report be filed.

Wednesday night, Dayton Police Officer Joseph Drumm said an "adult missing memo" has been filed for Hefner because she is an adult.

That memo asks police, if any officer sees her or comes in contact with her, to advise that she check into a hospital.
