Decision looms on Fairborn’s Cemex ballot issue

Greene County Board of Elections will hold a special meeting Tuesday to announce its decision on the protest hearing about a ballot issue seeking to reverse City of Fairborn’s decision to rezone land to accommodate Cemex’s mining operations.

The decision will come two weeks after the county elections board initiated deliberations about the issue slated for the March ballot.

During the Thursday hearing, the elections board heard from both sides. Cemex attorneys challenged the petition, stating it did not have enough valid signatures and failed to meet the requirements.

The elections board meeting will be held at 4 p.m. Tuesday in the elections board office located at 551 Ledbetter Road in Xenia.
