A woman driving a pickup truck suffered serious injuries Wednesday morning after she fell asleep at the wheel and crashed.

Preliminary investigation shows that 48-year-old Wanda Hicks of Coldwater was headed north on state Route 49 in a black 1996 Ford Ranger when she apparently fell asleep. The pickup went off the left side of the road into the ditch, drove up the embankment and then went airborne over Light Road. The pickup came to rest on the north side of Light Road, according to a release from the Darke County Sheriff’s Office.
