Police said the driver, who was hauling a trailer on the back of the vehicle, was traveling eastbound on I-70 when he slid on a patch of ice and slammed into the wall just west of Old Troy Pike.

Authorities had to extricate the driver from the vehicle due to the extent of the SUV’s damage as a result of the wreck.

The driver did not complain of any injuries, but was transported to a local hospital for observation, officials said.

According to Storm Center 7 Meteorologist Kirstie Zontini, drivers should watch for any moisture on bridges or overpasses from yesterday’s showers, as they could be a little slick this morning.
