Driver ID'd in fatal crash on WPAFB property

A local woman was killed in a crash near Wright-Patterson Air Force Base this morning.

Lauren B. Bodey, of Kettering, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to officials with the Ohio State Highway Patrol in Xenia.

The 30-year-old woman was driving northeast on state route 444 in Bath Township at about 3:30 a.m. when the wreck happened.

She drove off the road on a curve and hit the base's perimeter fence near West Dayton Yellow Springs Road. The fence was badly damaged from impact.

A preliminary investigation revealed Bodey failed to negotiate the curve, losing control of the vehicle.

Her vehicle ended up on base property, according to troopers at the scene.

The wreckage was discovered by a Base Security Forces Officer on routine patrol, according to a release from the OSP.

No other vehicles were involved in the crash and it remains under investigation.
