Equipment failure is believed to be the cause of an early morning crash.

A driver says his brakes failed Tuesday morning, causing him to run through a stop sign, go off the road and hit parked cars on private property.

Corey Facemeire, 29, of Greenville, was headed east around 6:30 a.m. in a black 1990 Ford Mustang on Delisle Fourman Road when he failed to stop at the intersection with state Route 49, according to the Darke County Sheriff’s Office.

The car went off the left side of the road, struck a guide wire to a utility pole, then went back across Delise Fourman Road, off the right side of the road and collided with a fence and two parked cars on private property, deputies said.

Facemeire was treated for minor injuries at the scene.

The crash remains under investigation, but preliminary investigation revealed that mechanical problems may be to blame.
