Two drivers taken to hospital after crash shuts down Cincinnati-Dayton Road

UPDATE @ 3:15 p.m.:

Sgt. Jeff Schuster of the Butler County Sheriff’s Office said that the crash that shut down Cininnati-Dayton Road in Liberty Twp. earlier was caused when a Hyundai Sonata heading north of the road went left of center and hit a Chevy Cruz heading south.

The driver of the Hyundai, an unidentified male, was cited for going left of center.

Both drivers were taken to West Chester Hospital. There is no word yet on the extent of their injuries.

Scanner traffic at the time of the incident indicated there may have been a medical issue that led to the crash.

UPDATE @ 1 p.m.:

A female driver was conscious when paramedics removed her from her Chevy Cruz.

She was trapped after the driver side door was crumpled from the crash, our crew on scene reported.

The other driver, driving a Hyundai Sonata, was taken to the hospital by Liberty Twp. life squad.

The scene is now clear and the road has re-opened to traffic.

INITIAL REPORT:

Reports indicate there are injuries in a crash that occurred in the 6500 block of Cincinnati-Dayton Road.

Traffic is blocked in both directions in the area.

There are reports that someone is trapped in one of the vehicles.

Initial scanner traffic indicates that two vehicles are involved and there may be someone with a leg injury.

We have a crew on the scene and are working to learn more.
