Fallen Montgomery County officers honored during memorial service

Public officials, law enforcement, family and members of the public gathered Friday morning to honor law enforcement officers who have died while serving the county.

A memorial ceremony began at 11 a.m. at RiverScape MetroPark to honor the 38 Montgomery County law enforcement officers who have died in the last 130 years.

A procession of officers, retirees and cruisers arrived at the RiverScape ahead of the ceremony.

Speakers included Col. Cassie Barlow, former commander of Wright-Patterson Air Force Base and Lt. Ronald McMillin of the Westerville Police Department.

A complimentary luncheon for officers, retirees and family survivors followed the ceremony at Antioch Shrine.
