The Fifth Third Foundation made a $100,000 donation to the American Red Cross to support disaster relief efforts for those affected by tornadoes in the Dayton and Greater Indianapolis area.

Macy’s also announced $20,000 donation to the Red Cross and a round-up campaign to support relief efforts in the Dayton area.

Fifth Third’s contribution represents its commitment to improving lives in the communities they serve, said Greg Carmichael, chairman, president and CEO of Fifth Third Bancorp.

“Disasters such as the recent tornadoes in the Dayton and Greater Indianapolis areas affect the communities that many of our customers and employees call home,” Carmichael said. “Through our financial donations, we are dedicated to helping them recover.”

Through June 12, customers at the Macy’s Dayton Mall location can round-up in-store purchases to the nearest dollar to benefit the Red Cross, according to the department store.

The Red Cross depends on financial donations to be able to provide disaster relief immediately.

Financial donations can be quickly accessed and put to use right away and allow us to be flexible in the help we deliver and ensure that we can provide what people need most. Your gift enables the Red Cross to prepare for, respond to and help people recover from disasters big and small.
