Dayton area residents will have free transportation to the polls on March 17 to vote in Ohio’s primary election, thanks to the Greater Dayton RTA.

The free rides will apply to fixed routes and paratransit services, an RTA official said in a release.

The Greater Dayton RTA has provided free rides on other holidays, such as Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Veterans Day and Thanksgiving.

“We want to do our part in ensuring members of our community have access to the polls,” said Brandon Policicchio, Chief Customer and Business Development Officer for the RTA. “By offering free rides we’re eliminating transportation as an obstacle for people wanting to exercise their right to vote.”

The release encouraged riders to use RTA’s Transit app to find bus stops close to their polling place.
