Canoe and kayak program offered

Greene County Parks & Trails is offering a hands-on class where participants can learn the basics of canoeing, boating regulations and paddling, as well as the proper use of personal flotation devices.

Class will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Saturday, June 13, at Spring Lakes Park, 2191 Ferry Road, Bellbrook. Canoes, paddles and personal flotation devices will be provided.

Cost for the class is $10.

The program is partially funded through a grant from the Ohio Division of Natural Resources, Division of Watercraft.

The minimum age of participants is 12, and those age 12 to 15 must be accompanied by an adult.

BEAVERCREEK

Students can attend theater camp

Dare To Defy Productions and Beavercreek Community Theatre are collaborating to host a summer theater camp for students in grades 3 through 8.

It will offer training in not only the performance aspect of theater, but also acting, singing, dancing, stage management, set design and building, lighting, sound and costuming.

The two-week full-day camp features morning workshop sessions with professional theater artists and other experts. The afternoons will be spent in rehearsals for two performances that will showcase each camper’s talents at the end of the camp.

The camp runs 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday through Friday, July 20-30 and 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. on July 31 at Beavercreek Community Theatre located in the Lofino Senior Adult and Cultural Enrichment Center at 3868 Dayton Xenia Road in Beavercreek.

The performances will be at 7 p.m. on Friday, July 31, and at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 1.

A strike party with pizza and a graduation ceremony will follow the Aug. 1 performance.

Tuition is $175.
