A local charity will once again set up shop to distribute free Thanksgiving baskets.

Because of God’s Grace (BOGG) was started in 2010 by co-founders Jason Johnston and Jason Barton. Since then, BOGG has set out to help families in the community and has even assisted in other projects, such as helping to provide Miamisburg students with school supplies, and giving Christmas gifts to families in need.

This year, BOGG has gone mobile, and uses a box truck as a mobile food pantry to give out free meals every week. So far, BOGGS says it has served more than 100,000 meals in 2012 alone.

“We saw a need in the local area and decided to do something about it,” said Johnston.

“I’m not into religion, so I was a little concerned coming in,” said Mark Nagy, a recent Wright State University graduate and new intern at BOGG. “But it’s just them loving the community. Regardless of your background, regardless of how you got to where you are. All that matters is that you need help, and they’re going to help you out.”

One of BOGG’s special projects is handing out Thanksgiving baskets to families in need. Last year, they successfully fed over 1,000 people with the baskets, and this year they hope to do it again. On Nov. 17, they will put their mobile pantry to use and help even more families experience the holiday.

When asked what the most fulfilling experience during his time at BOGG was, Johnston answered: “Getting to meet real people and impact their homes and offer support and help. Showing them that there is a God who cares about them.”
