Two local military communities have set commemorative ceremonies to mark the 15th anniversary of 9/11.
Officials in Huber Heights and Fairborn will each host events in their respective cities on Sunday, Sept. 11.
In Huber Heights, a documentary viewing will begin at 3 p.m. at the Wayne High School Performing Arts Center, 5400 Chambersburg Road. A remembrance ceremony will begin at 4 p.m., with special guest speaker Huber Heights Fire Division Battalion Chief Michael Muhl. The event will be followed by a 21-gun salute and balloon launch.
In Fairborn, city officials will remember the day at the National Center for Medical Readiness 9/11 Memorial. The event will begin at 2 p.m. Mayor Dan Kirkpatrick said all are welcome.
