5 hurt in crash on I-75 South in Piqua area

UPDATE @ 11:10 p.m.: There are five victims in all, and one was taken to Miami Valley Hospital by CareFlight. The conditions on the victims are not available.

Troopers with the state patrol tell us the two-vehicle accident is being blamed on an improper lane change and speed.

All lanes of the interstate have reopened.

UPDATE @ 10:37 p.m.: We've learned that four victims have been taken to the Upper Valley Medical Center.

FIRST REPORT

Interstate 75 South, in the area of U.S. 36 and the Cinemark Miami Valley, is shut down because of a multiple-vehicle accident.

A dispatcher with the Ohio Highway Patrol Piqua Post said CareFlight has been called. The severity of the accident is not known.

The first calls about the accident came into the patrol post just after 9:30 p.m., the dispatcher said.
