1 man in custody after stabbing at Dayton men’s shelter

UPDATE @ 8:26 a.m. (Jan. 27): One man is in custody after stabbing another man at the Gateway shelter Friday night, according to officials.

Demetrius Robinson, 40, was arrested and booked into Montgomery County Jail on charges of felonious assault, tampering with evidence, and probation violation, according to the jail website.

Police and medic unit were initially dispatched to the St. Vincent de Paul Gateway Shelter for Men, 1921 S. Gettysburg Ave., on a report of an assault.

The victim’s injuries are believed to be non-life threatening.

UPDATE @ 11:50 p.m.: An argument between two men at the Gateway shelter ended with one of them stabbed, a Dayton police sergeant said.

While police were investigating that incident, another fight erupted, the sergeant said.

The injury to the victim is not believed to be life threatening.

There has been no word as to whether anyone has been arrested.

One person has been taken to a hospital for injuries suffered during a reported assault at the men's shelter in Dayton.

Police and medic unit were dispatched to the St. Vincent de Paul Gateway Shelter for Men, 1921 S. Gettysburg Ave., on a report of an assault.

The victim, reportedly cut or stabbed by a 45-year-old male, has been taken to Miami Valley Hospital, according to a Montgomery County Regional Dispatch sergeant.
