Kettering council to vote on $5.6M fire station

Kettering City Council members are expected to vote Tuesday on the construction of a new fire station on Dorothy Lane, according to the city’s agenda.

The new fire station, Station 37 will be constructed at 1300 West Dorothy Lane and is part of a multi-phase construction project to build four state-of-the-art fire stations, the agenda item said. The resolution is to allow City Manager Mark Schwieterman to start the bidding process.

The project, which begun in 2006, started with Station 32 at 3484 Far Hills Ave., then Fire Headquarters and Emergency Operations Center (Station 36) at 4745 Hempstead Station Dr. and Station 34 at 2575 Woodman Drive.

Station 37 will be the final part of the project, which totals an estimated $29.6 million for all four stations.
