Steven Moore found a stray cat on his property on Elleman Road about a month ago. The cat gave birth to kittens over Memorial Day weekend before the storm.

Moore plans to give the kittens fitting names.

“The family thinks their names have to be “Wizard of Oz” related,” Moore told News Center 7’s Steve Baker.

“Maybe a Dorothy and a Toto. We’re leaning that way but we have to get our hands on them first.”

Among the clean-up efforts after the storm, Moore has made sure the mother is able to take care of her newborn kittens.

“Even with all of the activity going down, we’ve been able to keep the garage closed up for her,” Moore said.

“Mama’s bonding so we’ll give her some time.”
