Lakefield Airport gets $343K grant for improvements

Lakefield Airport has been awarded $343,143 in federal funds to make improvements at the facility.

Word of the grant from the U.S. Department of Transportation came Friday afternoon from U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown's office in Washington.

The money will be used to build two T-hangar taxiways and to remove utility pole obstructions blocking the approach to Runway 8, according to Brown's office.

The publicly owned airport approximately 6 miles southeast of Celina has two runways on 122 acres, according to Airport-Data.com.
