1 dead, 3 injured following Shelby County crash

UPDATE @ 4:45 p.m.:

One person has died after the two-vehicle crash on SR 274 in Botkins, Police Chief Tom Glass confirmed.

The front female passenger in the silver car, whose name has not yet been released, died from her injuries at Miami Valley Hospital.

UPDATE @ 1:10 p.m.: 

Four people were injured in a two-vehicle crash in Botkins Thursday, according to police.

An initial investigation found a silver car ran a stop sign at the intersection of state Route 274 and County Road 25A and was hit by a black SUV, Botkins police told our crew on the scene.

Four people, three in the silver car and one in the black SUV, were injured and transported to hospitals in Dayton, Sidney, and Lima, police said. A CareFlight medical helicopter was also requested to transport one of the victims.

The conditions of the victims were not released.

A crash reconstruction investigator from the Ohio State Highway Patrol responded to investigate the crash.

FIRST REPORT

Multiple emergency crews including a medical helicopter have responded to a crash reported between Anna and Botkins in Shelby County Thursday, according to initial reports.

The crash was reported at the intersection of state Route 274 and County Road 25A around 11:20 a.m. Thursday.

Initial reports indicate up to three people were injured in the crash.

Emergency crews were working to free at least one person who was trapped in the wreckage after the crash, scanner traffic indicates.

A CareFlight medical helicopter has been requested to transport at least one person from the scene.
