Coroner ID’s victim in Dayton shooting

UPDATE @ 9:24 a.m. (Aug. 11): The man who died in the shooting on Huron Avenue in Dayton has been identified as Eddie Mack Jr. 57 of Dayton, according to the Montgomery County Coroner's Office.

He was shot multiple times outside of a residence in the 300 block of Huron Avenue Friday night, according to police.

Police have no suspect information at this time.

UPDATE @ 8:18 p.m. (Aug. 10): Police are looking for whoever shot a man multiple times outside a residence in the 300 block of Huron Avenue, Dayton police Lt. Steven Bauer said.

No weapons were found on the property, he said, noting he had no information about the victim’s condition.

Bauer also said police have the victim's name, but are waiting to release it publicly.

UPDATE @ 7:15 p.m.: 

A male in his late 40s has died in the shooting on Huron Avenue and Dayton police homicide detectives are continuing their work at the scene.

One of the detectives said the preliminary investigation isn't pointing toward drugs as a connection.

An ATF agent is on scene, with a K-9, sniffing out shell casings.

The victim was taken to Miami Valley Hospital, where officials contacted the Montgomery County Coroner's Office.

Huron Avenue remains closed, from Oakridge Drive to Edison Street.

Police have closed Huron Avenue, from Oakridge Drive to Edison Street, for the investigation into the shooting that has sent at least one person to a hospital.

Police are investigating a shooting that has sent at least one person to a hospital.

Dayton police and a medic unit were dispatched to the 300 block of Huron Avenue just before 6:15 p.m. on a report of a shooting. We’re working to learn more about what happened.
